Module Selector

This section explains the available Modules available in the Module Selector. Users will only see modules that they have been granted access to. Most users will not be able to access the Configuration Module, since this module requires administrative type privileges. Administrators determine the default landing module organization users see after logging into RapidIdentity. The default landing module may be any module that all organization users can access. The logged in user's specific organizational role (administrator, manager, employee, contractor, etc.) and the corresponding privileges assigned to that role determine the available modules.

  • Click the drop-down arrow to select a Module.

  1. Dashboard: Serves as a home landing page for the bookmarked modules and to view dashboard graphs that have been made available. The Return on Investment (ROI) for the Portal is available using the ROI calculator. The Dashboard configuration determines the specific graphs available.

  2. Applications: Presents successfully authenticated users a single pane to display applications, resources, and systems the user can access. All user applications can be launched from this portal interface without having to remember different URLs for each system. Once the user has been authenticated to this portal, all other applications can be seamlessly accessed with the currently logged in credentials.

  3. Files: Provides authorized users a mechanism to securely share, exchange, and distribute files among the organization. Organizations can enable access to source data files that are used for data validation, troubleshooting, and local application provisioning.

  4. People: Allows the management of the lifecycle of internal and external user accounts:

    • Displays all users that are available in the RapidIdentity Portal. Users may perform self-service and manage the appropriate accounts of other users in the organization through delegations. Depending on the user’s configured role, different tabs that perform various self-service and delegated actions will be available. Portal administrators will use the People module to manage other user accounts and access within the Portal.

    • Allows the management of the lifecycle of external user accounts, an account managed outside of the authoritative system. Typical examples of such accounts are contractors, adjuncts, and volunteers. Designated Sponsors can create, expire, delete accounts, re-attest accounts, and transfer accounts to other sponsors. 

    • Allows managers to perform sponsor actions for sponsored accounts belonging to their direct reports. Administrators can also designate Sponsorship Administrators that will have the ability to manage any sponsored account in the system. This function is typically used by a customer service or help desk department to help other Sponsors with managing their accounts.

    • Administrators can delegate certain administrative abilities to other users' account, allowing multiple users within the same organization with different module access to be able to execute delegated Actions, such as reset challenge questions and certify sponsored accounts.

    • Users with delegated Action privileges, such as resetting challenge questions and certifying sponsored accounts will see the corresponding delegated Action Buttons directly under the Module name. Users not having delegated Action privileges in the specific Module they are viewing will not see any delegated Action Buttons below the Module icon.

  5. Roles: As with other Portal modules, the Roles module provides the capability for managers of role managers, as well as help desk staff, to take action on behalf of a group manager, when necessary.

    • This capability removes the burden of managing access groups and distribution lists and empowers the group owners who are better equipped to make decisions regarding membership and access.

    • Allows role owners and role membership managers to create, delete, and manager roles, as well as create sub-owners.

    • As with other Portal modules, the Roles module provides the capability for managers of role managers, as well as help desk staff, to take action on behalf of a group manager, when necessary.

    • Static group assignments and dynamic group memberships are also supported.

  6. Reports: Gives authorized users the ability to import predefined reports or create ad hoc reports based on user actions and events within RapidIdentity.

  7. Requests: Includes the following functionality:

    • Users to request higher role privileges and automatically notifies the appropriate personnel of the request

    • Users from one organization to request access to an application in another separate organization

    • Users to request to be granted temporary privileged access in the system, without requiring being an administrator

    • Contains the Workflow Editor

  8. Configuration: Controls the appearance, policies, security, and available systems in the RapidIdentity Portal. This ability requires designated or administrative privileges.
